Evaluation

Prior to prescribing contact lenses, Dr. Sherman determines what level of vision correction you require in your general eye examination. Refractive status (commonly known as nearsightedness, farsightedness, or astigmatism depending on your eyes) is evaluated by measuring how the eyes focus when a series of different lenses are placed in front of them. An optometrist may use  a phoropter, lens bar or loose lenses to take these measurements.
